This is a clay caricature sculpture I made of an arctic fox.  I started by making a wire armature (shown below) and bulking it up with tin foil so I didn't have to use as much clay.
I stated putting on the clay until I was happy with the proportions, and then began smoothing out the seams until it was as smooth as I could make it.  Then I added the eyes and nose with black clay that I had made beforehand.  I learned that I had to be very careful not to let the darker clay touch the white clay where I did not want it to change color.  After I did that, I added the fur texture to the clay, which took about five hours.  If I were to make this again, I probably would not bother with putting fur on the belly of this sculpture because it is so close to the ground that you cannot see it, and since this clay does not harden you cannot pick up the sculpture without messing up the fur anyway.
